Enable OEM DB-Console in RDS Instance

This is assuming you have already have a running RDS instance.

From you existing instance you will need to know the following:

  1. DB Engine:
  2. Security Group
  3. VPC

 

Click on Option Group on the left hand side:

 

.. and check if you already have any OEM Groups in the VPC.

 

Option 1 - No Group for VPC

 

Create an option group:

..and complete the details remember to enter the engine from No.1 above:

..then create

Once select created, select your option group:

..and select Add Option

and complete the options - remember to select No.2 from above

and then apply changes:

Confirm the changes have been applied:

 

Now go back to your RDS instance and highlight it, and select Modify:

From the drop down for "Option Group", select MyOEM

 

Apply the changes immediately and wait for it to be applied:

 

Option 2 - Group for VPC Exists


If the group already exists then go back to your RDS instance and highlight it, and select Modify:

 

then select the existing option group:

Apply the changes immediately and wait for it to be applied:

Check OEM URL


To launch the DB Console go the endpoint URL:1158/em and login with the AWSUSER credentials:
https://cou**********************************.rds.amazonaws.com:1158/em




Problems:


If you aren't able to get to the URL, first check the security group has the 1158 port allowed - select services / VPC
then security groups:
Search for the security group:
and check the settings for inbound:
and outbound:
If these are all ok, then check with the Networks team if the internal firewall port 1158 is open.
You may have to edit/change your proxy settings on your PC - Start / Control Panel / Internet Options / Connections Tab / LAN Settings / Un-Check Proxy Server
